Megan McDermott

Megan McDermott is the Associate Dean for Strategic Planning and Chief of Staff at NYU School of Law, where she also serves as Adjunct Professor of Clinical Law, teaching the Local Prosecution Externship in coordination with the local Offices of the District Attorney in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. Prior to joining the Law School, Megan served as an Assistant District Attorney at the New York County District Attorney’s Office, and was appointed to the Sex Crimes Unit, the Human Trafficking Unit, and the Hate Crimes Unit. Megan holds a BA summa cum laude in English from Columbia University, an MA in English from Harvard University as a Mellon Fellow, and a JD from Harvard Law School, where she earned the Dean’s Award for Community Leadership, the Chayes International Public Service Fellowship, and the Dean’s Scholar award in multiple subjects. Megan has two decades of experience in crisis counseling and response, with specializations in rape crisis prevention and support and suicide prevention.
